Flight duration is the actual time in the air; the arrival time shown is the local clock time at your destination, which includes the time zone change.

How Does the Flight Time Calculator Work?

The calculator converts your departure time to a universal timestamp, adds the flight duration, and then displays the result in your destination's local time zone. This cleanly separates two ideas travelers often mix up: flight duration (how long you are physically in the air) and local arrival time (what the clock says when you land).

Flying east usually makes the clock jump forward — you might "lose" a day crossing the Pacific. Flying west can make you land before you took off, on paper at least. The calculator handles both cases, along with daylight saving rules for the exact date you fly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my arrival time so different from the flight duration?

Your arrival is shown in the destination's local time. A 7-hour eastbound overnight flight from New York to London departs at 7 PM and lands around 7 AM local time, because London is 5 hours ahead. The flight duration and the clock change are two separate things.

Does the calculator handle flights that cross midnight?

Yes. If your flight lands after midnight, or crosses the international date line, the arrival date is adjusted and the tool clearly labels arrivals on the next or previous day.

Where do I find my flight duration?

Airlines list the scheduled flight duration on your booking confirmation and boarding pass, and most booking sites show it in search results. Enter that duration here along with your departure time.

Is daylight saving time taken into account?

Yes. The calculator applies the correct UTC offsets for both cities on your specific travel date, including any daylight saving changes.
